There was no need for adjustment or time to get settled in. Disney World was home the moment I stepped off the plane in Orlando. I met a stranger at the Holiday Inn that night, and she became my roommate and one of my best friends. The people truly make the dream a reality and I’m so grateful for all my roommates and coworkers that made this experience so great.

I learned every street and hideaway in the parks and would often enter through the touch points to simply sit in the sun and listen to the sweet sounds of the park and people in it. The Magic Kingdom encompassed the majority of my park days. My favorite lunch spot was Peco’s Bill where I could get a beef nachos kids meal and then sit outside to watch the Festival of Fantasy parade begin at the edge of Frontierland.
On my days off I had to decide which nighttime spectacular I wanted to watch, and I did my best to balance Fantasmic! and Happily Ever After because I don’t think I could ever really choose.
I was lucky enough to serve the royal family for the earning portion of this internship. Each night the fairy godmother worked her magic and brought to life a royal ball with the Charming’s and the Tremaine’s who provided the entertainment for the evening. I worked with a team of leaders who encouraged me to learn new skills and seek opportunities for growth in every situation.

The warmth of the sun was never too much for me. I will miss lying by the pool and letting the rays sink in to my skin, but to be honest I’m glad that I’m not in Florida during the summer when you sweat every time you step outside in the humidity! I am back in Eugene, Oregon now and eagerly waiting for the beautiful summer days that will be here soon.
To have Mickey Mouse as my boss for the last 9 months was a dream come true. I said many emotional goodbyes in Orlando, but to all my friends at Cinderella’s castle, it was a see ya real soon!
