Finally, I did it! I am back to report that I have earned my bachelors degree in journalism with a major in public relations and a minor in Spanish. This weekend’s celebration was filled with joy and hopeful anticipation. As I sat together with my classmates waiting for my name to be called, it finally dawned on me that this was actually happening. I completed my undergraduate education.
Eighteen years, I have identified as a student and dutifully attended classes. Now this, my first day of summer, is not truly summer as it has ever been before. Summer is no longer a vacation from reality, in which the responsibilities of homework assignments have no hold on me. Summer is reality and adulthood starts now. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous, but this is the day I have been waiting for and this change will define me as I follow a new kind of adventure.

Lucky for me, this new adventure will start at Walt Disney World in August, 2018. I am ecstatic to begin a magical journey as a cast member participating in the Disney College Program this fall. The DCP will provide amazing opportunities to connect with leaders in the Walt Disney Company and learn about what it takes to be part of the show.
I’m trading in sports games and hugs from my duck for parades and walks down Main Street with the mouse. It’s time to throw my “O” and put on my ears because the castle is calling, but once a duck always a duck.
