After one week of training today is my assessment that will determine if I have earned my ears. I work as a seater at 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. This restaurant is a buffet-style character dining experience. I get to work with Mary Poppins, Alice and The Mad Hatter, Pooh and Tigger as well as Cinderella and the whole royal family. The best part of my job is seeing kids come dressed up and excited to meet their favorite characters. I love to talk with the families and make them feel special about what is often their first time meeting these characters.
My training has gone very smoothly. I am a quick learner and I enjoy getting to be a part of the show! As a seater, I spend a lot of my time at work interacting with guests. When the doors open and the guests see the dining hall filled with characters, I smile and watch the magic come alive.

My role is important because I am one of the first people the guests see or talk to when they arrive. I welcome them in and tell them all that’s in store for their meal with the characters.
I work a lot during the week and wish I could spend more time with friends in the park because I want to make the most of this experience in Disney World. Then I remember I still have four more months here in Florida and I’m still getting used to everything. I’m comfortable at work now that I’m through training and I’ve made good friends. The Disney College Program will be over before I know it and I want to enjoy every moment.
My plans for the spring are yet to be determined, but being here will help me understand where I should go to next. I’m thankful for all of the adventures and I hope they never stop. For now, I will have fun in Disney World! The magic is only beginning!
